![]() Senate & Sabers (set during the Prequel Trilogy, Star Wars Episodes 1-3): Planets & Dragons (space opera meets the Viking Age): Scientists & Sorcerers (a world of science has merged with one of magic): Please let me know if there are other hacks I can add to this list! Currently this list contains at least 177 different hacks (as of May 17, 2022). This page is a list of as many Lasers & Feelings hacks as I could find, roughly organized by genre. Because Lasers & Feelings has a creative commons license, it is legal for others to take the core structure of this game and alter it so that it has a different setting. All of these games are based on Lasers & Feelings, which is is a free, one-page game system by John Harper that creates science fiction stories much like campy Star Trek episodes ( fan-made character sheet 1, fan-made character sheet 2). They have a purpose and convey a feel just like any other font (and they are common for a reason: they get the job done). In this context, a hack is an alteration of a game. Using something "common" like Times New Roman or Arial isn't bad just because they are common. Your headers and chapter titles, should definitely be eye catching but the main copy should be user friendly. The short version, it's better to err on the side of legibility over fancy. If I were doing a sci fi layout, sans serif might be appropriate (though there's also a place for serifs in sci fi.for example, doing an Alien RPG which has a sort of 80's vibe, and thinking about those green letters on a black screen for computers, a serify but computery font like Consolas could work as a staring point). If I were doing a swords-and-sorcery layout, serif would be appropriate. Serifs also add a feeling of importance, or decoration, or gravitas where as sans serif makes things more streamlined and futuristic. However, they add a weightiness to your text so walls of text can seem way more imposing. Serifs make things easier to read so you can go smaller with the font size.
